Most of TEAM3GARO has been in San Diego now for just over 2 weeks, getting ready for the outdoor season. As always in this sport, its not always ups. Some has had niggles here and there, but for the most part, the camp has been going well. It’s an great atmosphere here and the team is motivated to do well this summer. There are of course championships coming up later in the summer that the athletes will try to qualify for.

It wasn’t long ago Lamara closed the indoor-season, and tomorrow the triple-jump guys are opening the outdoor. They are jumping at the Mt. SAC Relays that is held on Saturday April 18, just outside of LA.

Gabriel had an amazing closure indoors where he set a new indoor personal best in the National Championships final, with 16.34m. The training has been going well since, he even set a new training triple-jump PB just a week ago. He is excited to open his season here in USA.

Jesper had only one competitions indoor in January, this was the result:

18 JAN, Växjö, SWE Jesper Hellström (TJ) Final 15.34m (DNF, hamstring injury)

He could have possibly, maybe, done one more in the end but decided to not rush getting back. Instead he could get good work in and come back stronger til outdoors. Since then things have been going good for Jesper, he did get a bit ill though for a couple of days this week, hopefully that doesn’t ruin too much and that he can still have good energy tomorrow.

Jesper had problems with his left hip for the whole of 2025, and couldn’t make justice for himself in triple-jump last outdoors. The hip was better leading into indoor and he could jump without pain, then unfortunately the season ended with the hamstring injury. Had to start over a few times but he is doing good and making progress.

That’s the triple-jump guys opening this 2026 outdoor season.

Next Saturday, the 25th of April, Denise is doing her first 100m and 200m. She has also been doing very well since the Nationals in March, except for one disruption. Just before we left for training camp, she got a strange nerve-thing pain in her knee/calf. So she couldn’t run for almost 2 weeks. Now its all (almost) good and she is running good times in training again. It will be interesting to see what she can do next weekend.

As above, it’s not always up, but hopefully it will eventually be good. We keep on working towards our dreams and every little detail is a part of the game.

That’s the athletes competing here in USA, The rest of the group will have their season openers a little bit later, in different parts of the world. Stay tuned.
